An unnamed source described the Sussexes’ situation as increasingly difficult, claiming they are spending more money than they are bringing in.
“Harry and Meghan’s financial situation is tighter than two coats of paint, and getting worse as each month goes by,” the insider told Woman’s Day.
The report pointed to Harry’s legal expenses as a potential strain on the couple’s finances. The Duke of Sussex has been involved in litigation against Associated Newspapers, the publisher of the Daily Mail.
According to the source, the legal costs could “hammer their net worth, most of which is tied up in property.”
The insider also raised questions about the future of Harry and Meghan’s entertainment ventures, claiming they have struggled to secure financial backing for new film and television projects following changes to their relationship with Netflix.
“They can’t find a backer for any of their film and TV projects since Netflix walked away,” the source alleged.
The publication further claimed that the couple may have damaged a potentially valuable connection with Kris Jenner after reportedly attracting attention at her birthday celebration.
“No one wants to work with them, and they’ve burned the only person who could probably save them, Kris Jenner, by overshadowing her big birthday bash,” the insider claimed.
Harry and Meghan have earned a significant portion of their income through media projects since stepping down as working royals. Their releases have included documentary series, lifestyle programming and their involvement in the documentary Cookie Queens.
