Prince Harry’s Friend Bryony Gordon Shares Her Thoughts on His and Meghan Markle’s UK Decision

Prince Harry's longtime friend Bryony Gordon has shared her thoughts on reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are considering a return to the UK after six years in California.

Speaking on This Morning, the journalist said Harry and Meghan appear to be planning a life split between countries rather than making a permanent break from the US.

“My understanding is that they have decided to be more of an international family,” Gordon explained.

She said the couple have no plans to give up their Montecito home, which she has visited herself.

“California is lovely. I’ve been to their house in Montecito. It’s gorgeous,” she said, as quoted by Hello!. “They’re not letting go of it. It will remain somewhere that you can escape to. What I understand is that, as lovely as California is, it’s a long way away from lots of things.”

Gordon also reflected on Harry’s ties to his family in Britain. She referred to the Sussexes’ reported July visit to Althorp with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, where they spent time with Harry’s uncle, Earl Spencer.

“They had a really lovely time at Althorp,” she said. “I think the kids really loved it, and I think they want to be closer to that.”

Gordon has known Harry through their shared interest in mental health advocacy. In a previous Substack post, she described their connection as “a long working friendship” built on a “mutual passion for talking about mental health issues.”

The Duke appeared on Gordon’s Mad Girl podcast and previously gave her an exclusive interview for her platform.
