Organizers of the Invictus Games have dismissed claims that the Birmingham 2027 edition is at risk of being cancelled.
The statement came shortly after Prince Harry visited the UK for events marking the one-year countdown to the competition.
During the visit, the Duke of Sussex was accompanied by Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The family also reportedly met King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Rumors surrounding the future of the Games emerged amid claims that the event had lost several sponsors, including Boeing.
However, an Invictus Games spokesperson confirmed that Boeing remains involved through an existing multi-year partnership with the Invictus Games Foundation. The company continues to support sports recovery programs through 2027, as well as Invictus initiatives in Germany and Australia.
The spokesperson added that discussions with Boeing and other potential partners regarding the Birmingham event are continuing.
“Commercial partnerships continue to develop for Birmingham 2027, with further exciting announcements to follow in due course,” the statement said.
Organizers also confirmed that Defender, the Jaguar Land Rover brand, has joined as a commercial partner for the eighth edition of the Games.
The statement appears to put an end to speculation that funding concerns could threaten the event, with organizers maintaining that preparations for Birmingham 2027 remain active.
