A source has explained why the timing is reportedly right for the Sussex family to return to Britain.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s possible return to the UK has been discussed by royal experts, critics and supporters for years. Now, reports suggest that the long-rumoured move may finally be happening.
According to The Telegraph, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are preparing to return to Britain and have enrolled Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in school for the September term.
The reasons behind the reported decision were initially unknown, but a source has now claimed that several important factors came together at the right time.
“Actually, the stars aligned,” the insider told The Times. “It’s perfect timing in terms of the children’s schooling, there appeared to be a good acting opportunity here [for Meghan], and also the draw of family.”
The source said Harry is interested in being closer not only to King Charles but also to the Spencer family, including his maternal aunts and uncle, with whom he reportedly shares a close bond.
The insider also offered an update on Harry’s relationship with the Royal Family, claiming: “He and his brother are not speaking, but there are other members of the royal family he remains close to.”
The comment suggests that Harry’s relationship with Prince William remains deeply strained. However, reports claim that other royals, including Princess Anne, may be hoping to help bring the long-running dispute to a peaceful end.
Why are Prince William and Prince Harry feuding?
Tensions between the Sussexes and the wider Royal Family have grown over several years. One of the earliest public controversies involved conflicting accounts of a disagreement between Meghan and Kate over bridesmaid dresses before the Sussexes’ wedding.
The dispute reportedly involved Princess Charlotte and later became another source of tension between the two couples.
Relations between William and Harry worsened further after the Sussexes stepped back from royal duties and Harry published his memoir, Spare.
There have since been claims that attempts are being made to repair the brothers’ relationship. However, some reports suggest William is not yet ready to reconcile, despite King Charles reportedly hoping to ease the tensions within his family.
The King is also believed to want a closer relationship with Archie and Lilibet, who live in the United States and have visited Britain only a handful of times. If the Sussexes do return, the move could give Charles and other relatives more opportunities to spend time with the children.
