A source has claimed Meghan Markle is preparing for a major change as reports continue to suggest that she and Prince Harry could be looking for a permanent home in the UK.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex left Britain in 2020, first moving to Canada before settling in California. Their departure followed discussions with the Royal Family over their wish to adopt a “half-in, half-out” role, allowing them to pursue financial independence while still representing the monarchy at selected engagements.
That arrangement was not accepted, and the family talks surrounding their exit later featured in Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare. The book included several personal claims about tensions between Harry and Prince William.
If the couple do plan to establish a long-term base in Britain, the source believes they face an uphill task in improving public opinion. It has been reported that Harry and Meghan are seeking a UK property to sit alongside their Montecito home and their Portuguese holiday residence, with attention reportedly turning towards the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
According to the insider, a PR and crisis-management team is already being assembled behind the scenes.
“Meghan knows this is not going to be easy, and she’s going to be eating humble pie,” the source told the Daily Express.
The insider also claimed Meghan has been advised to take a step back and let Harry lead any public efforts in the UK.
“She’s been told this is her time to step back and let Harry do the talking, as after all, this is his home, and he is the star here,” they said.
The source added that repairing the couple’s relationship with Prince William and Princess Kate would be essential to any wider reconciliation with the Royal Family.
“Harry and Meghan know that there will never be a way back into the royal fold unless they can make things better with William and Kate,” the insider claimed.
However, reports have previously suggested that Prince William would be unlikely to consider reconciliation without an apology first.
