Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly becoming a growing source of tension between Prince William and King Charles.
Rumors that Harry’s relationship with his father is improving have sparked concern within Kensington Palace, according to a report by Heat. The tension is said to center on William’s alleged distrust of his younger brother’s motives.
A source told the publication that William believes the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are planning a permanent return to Britain and are using their renewed connection with Charles to recover some of the privileges they lost after stepping down as working royals.
The insider also claimed that Harry and Meghan have been quietly strengthening their relationships with members of the Spencer family, as well as Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
From William’s perspective, the source alleged, these efforts are disrespectful to him and Kate because the couple feel they have never received a proper apology from the Sussexes. William is also reportedly concerned about the potential consequences for the monarchy.
The disagreement could place further strain on William’s relationship with his father. Although the Prince of Wales cannot simply be removed from the line of succession, another source suggests that Charles could make life more difficult for his eldest son.
The King could reportedly give William additional duties, reduce some of his privileges or take a more hands-on approach to overseeing his work.
Such a move would likely frustrate William, who, according to the source, “does not like being told what to do.”
The insider further suggested that William’s continued opposition to Harry could encourage Charles to offer the Sussexes greater freedom or new opportunities. This could potentially include allowing Harry and Meghan to support the monarchy from the United States, though no such arrangement has been officially proposed.
Ultimately, the report claims that Charles holds the advantage in any disagreement with his heir.
“He’s the King, so ultimately, he can do what he wants, and William should know that,” the source concluded.
Neither Buckingham Palace nor Kensington Palace has publicly confirmed the claims.
