A campaign to restore an old public path could allow walkers to pass close to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s home at Marsh Farm on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.
According to GB News, retired academic Dr David Ormerod has spent years researching historic footpaths across the county. He has applied to have routes missing from official maps recognized again as public rights of way.
Using old maps, aerial photographs and archive records, Ormerod argues that some paths around Sandringham were wrongly removed from official records about 70 years ago. Local councils have also turned to him for help researching historic routes.
His latest application focuses on a path across the Wolferton marshes. He wants it recognized as a restricted byway, which would allow walkers and certain other users to access it.
“It is imperative this public right of way is re-established,” he wrote in his submission.
According to The Sun, a successful application could restore public access to a route running directly alongside Andrew’s property.
The campaign comes months after Andrew reportedly claimed that a stalker had been following him near his home.
Andrew, who was stripped of his royal titles by King Charles over his links to Jeffrey Epstein, lives on the king’s private estate. The reports do not say whether he has formally objected to the application.
