Journalist Dan Wootton has accused Princess Diana’s brother, Earl Charles Spencer, of working with Prince Harry to damage the British royal family.
Writing on X after reports about Spencer’s upcoming book, Wootton said: “I want to be very clear: I do not believe Charles Spencer.”
He went on to claim that Spencer had been “conspiring with Prince Harry to destroy the British Royal Family.” The comments provided no evidence to support that accusation.
Wootton, an outspoken critic of Harry and Meghan Markle, also questioned Spencer’s reasons for writing the book. In another post, he claimed it was being published to make money and compared Spencer to Harry.
The comments followed a Daily Mail report about Spencer’s account of the days after Diana’s death in 1997.

According to the report, Spencer alleges that the then-Prince Charles told him: “Rest assured, we’ll forget her soon enough.” This remains Spencer’s claim.
Diana died at 36 following a car crash in Paris.
Buckingham Palace issued a statement in response to the claims. A spokesperson said the Palace generally does not comment on books but suggested that grievance over losing a sibling could affect reason, judgment and memory, even many years later.
