Prince Harry's Invictus Games Foundation shared fundraising news amid a reported dispute between King Charles and Earl Spencer over claims about Princess Diana.
Harry attended the Invictus fundraising event on Thursday without Meghan Markle. Afterwards, the foundation shared a photo of him and announced that the first Invictus Spirit Awards, presented by ATCO, had raised more than £1.6 million.
The announcement came as British newspapers covered claims from an upcoming book by Diana’s brother, Earl Spencer.
According to the reports, Spencer’s book alleges that Charles said shortly after Diana’s death in 1997: “Rest assured, we’ll forget her soon enough.”
Buckingham Palace responded with a statement suggesting that grievance over losing a sibling can affect a person’s judgment and memories, even years later.
As those claims made headlines, the Invictus Games Foundation celebrated the money raised at its event.
