Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly want their children to be known as Archie Sussex and Lilibet Sussex at school, without their royal titles.
Writing in his Naughty But Nice Substack, royal commentator Rob Shuter claimed the couple’s children would keep their Prince and Princess titles but would not use them at school in Britain.
According to sources quoted by Shuter, the decision follows a royal tradition that Harry also experienced during his school years.
“Harry and Meghan are absolutely not giving up their children’s titles,” one insider said. “They are Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, and that isn’t changing.”
The source explained that the couple wanted their children to be treated like other pupils. They do not want teachers using their royal titles in the playground or classmates treating them differently.
Archie and Lilibet became entitled to their titles when their grandfather, King Charles, took the throne in 2022. The palace later updated its website to list them as Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex.
The report also claims the children have started school in Britain after returning with their parents last month.
A source described as close to Harry and Meghan told PEOPLE that helping the children settle in “has been, and remains, their focus.”
