Brittany, who runs the Royal News Network account on X, made the claim after reports suggested that Meghan plans to reconnect with British charities and increase media coverage of her work.
Commenting on a report by The Times, Brittany said Harry and Meghan appear determined to present themselves as working royals again.
She argued that their plans could weaken the monarchy by making it less clear what separates official royal duties from other charity work.
“This is not sustainable and undermines the foundations of the monarchy,” she wrote. “Because if anyone can do ‘royal work’, then what makes the royals royal?”
Brittany also criticised King Charles for his handling of the situation, claiming that allowing the couple to move forward with these plans could create further problems.
The Times previously reported that Meghan intends to rebuild her relationships with charities in the UK. Her charity work is also expected to receive public and media attention as the Sussex family plans its life in Britain.
Harry, Meghan and their team are reportedly considering a new system for giving the media access to their public events. They are said to want an arrangement that provides fair coverage while allowing them to maintain control over their work.
