Prince Harry’s return to the UK has reportedly added to the pressure facing the monarch.
King Charles may be making progress in his cancer recovery, but sources say he remains physically and emotionally vulnerable.
The 77-year-old monarch is reportedly receiving less cancer treatment. However, ongoing tensions between Prince William and Prince Harry are said to be causing him additional stress.
The brothers reportedly remain at odds despite Harry’s return to Britain, several years after he and Meghan stepped down as senior royals.
“People forget that Charles is still in a fragile state,” a source told Closer Online. “He’s making great strides in his recovery, and obviously everyone is encouraged by that, but it’s still an ongoing process.”
The insider added that the King does not have the same energy levels he once had.
Doctors and members of his inner circle have reportedly urged him to avoid stress whenever possible. However, the source said that is difficult because he is dealing with several serious issues.
The tension between the Sussexes and the Wales family is not his only concern. A reported police investigation involving his younger brother has also brought negative attention to the Royal Family.
The source described the situation as “horrendous” and said the uncertainty surrounding the investigation continues to cause the King a great deal of stress.
Charles is also managing the demanding duties that come with being King. According to the insider, he works long hours, travels often and carries a great deal of responsibility.
The source said global conflicts and uncertainty in international politics have added to the pressure.
Queen Camilla is reportedly worried about the effect all this stress could have on her husband. Despite her past differences with Prince Harry, she is said to be frustrated that those closest to Charles are not doing more to reduce his burden.
