Rumors that Meghan Markle could return to acting have been questioned by stars of The Gentlemen, with one source calling the story a possible “PR stunt.”
The speculation grew after reports that the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry had returned to Britain with their children.
However, cast members from Guy Ritchie’s crime series said they knew nothing about Meghan joining the show.
An industry source told RadarOnline.com that the cast’s response had raised questions about where the rumor began.
“When virtually every actor associated with the production says they know nothing about Meghan joining, people inevitably wonder whether her name has simply been attached to a successful show to generate publicity around her return to Britain,” the source claimed.
The insider described the rumor as a “total PR stunt” and said online critics had accused Meghan’s team of starting it. No evidence was provided to support that claim.
Actor Vinnie Jones was among the first cast members to dismiss the possibility of Meghan appearing in the series.
“I think it’s hot air,” he said. “We've got a lot of pretty women in this series, so I'm not sure there's room for any more.”
Theo James also rejected the rumor, joking that Prince Harry would be playing one of his love interests.
“I think it's a spurious rumor,” James added. “She'd fit in well because she's actually from the Royal Family, but I think the practicalities of that are impossible.”
