Meghan Markle reportedly wants to repair her relationship with the royal family, but she is not willing to accept all the blame for their disagreements.
An insider told RadarOnline.com that the Duchess of Sussex is open to making peace with Kate Middleton. However, she will not beg for forgiveness or “bow down” to the Princess of Wales.
Prince Harry and Meghan have reportedly returned to the UK with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, six years after stepping away from royal duties.
Their reported return has brought fresh attention to their difficult relationship with Prince William and Princess Kate. There is also speculation that the Sussexes could remain in Britain for a longer period.
“Meghan is prepared to be civil, and she recognizes that rebuilding a relationship with Kate would make life enormously easier for everyone,” a palace source claimed.
However, the source said Meghan does not believe she should be held responsible for everything that went wrong.
“In Meghan's mind, reconciliation has to involve movement and recognition from both sides,” the insider said.
According to another source, Meghan wants the tension with Kate to end, especially if the two families are living in the same country again. But she does not believe she should have to ignore her own complaints or accept all the blame.
The insider added that Meghan has set clear limits based on her previous experiences in Britain. From her point of view, these boundaries are meant to protect herself and her family, not to continue the feud.
“She is willing to explore whether she and Kate can establish a different, more peaceful relationship, but it would have to be based on mutual respect and effort from both women,” the source said.
The insider added that Meghan will not beg Kate for forgiveness or pretend that her own concerns never existed simply to secure peace with the royal family.
