Prince Harry shared a sweet detail about Princess Lilibet while meeting children and their families ahead of the WellChild Awards in London on Monday.
The Duke of Sussex was speaking with six-year-old Margot Jones-Billington, who suffered a brain injury when she was 10 months old. Her sparkly shoes and pink dress caught his attention.
“You obviously love sparkles,” Harry told her before explaining that his daughter shares her taste.
“My little girl loves sparkles and she loves pink,” he said. “That’s her favorite color.”
Harry also spoke about family life with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. He said HELLO! magazine that both children had “a bit of Monday morning blues” at breakfast.
To get them talking, he explained what he would be doing at the awards that evening. The children became interested and began asking questions.
Harry said he and Meghan use moments like these to help their children learn about other people’s lives and the work their parents do.
He also reflected on how fatherhood has changed his experience of meeting seriously ill children and their families. Those meetings had always mattered to him, he explained, but becoming a parent made him even more grateful for his own children’s health.
After an 11-week school break, Harry acknowledged the everyday challenges of parenting. Spending time with WellChild families, he said, helps him put those struggles into perspective.
He added that the children and their parents inspire him, leaving him with encouragement that lasts throughout the year.
