Prince Harry has shared how he encouraged Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet when they were feeling unhappy about the start of the school week.
Speaking to HELLO! magazine at the WellChild Awards in London on Monday, Harry said his children had “a bit of Monday morning blues” at breakfast.
To get their attention, he told them about the event he would be attending that evening. Their mood shifted as they became interested and started asking questions.
Harry said he and Meghan try to use their work to help their children understand what other people are going through. He believes building that awareness is an important part of parenting.
The Duke of Sussex also reflected on how becoming a father has changed his view of the families he meets through WellChild.
He explained that meeting seriously ill children had always mattered to him. Having children of his own, however, has made him more aware of how grateful he is for their health.
Harry also spoke about the challenges of getting back into a routine after an 11-week school break. But he said spending time with WellChild families puts everyday parenting struggles into perspective.
He added that both the children and their parents inspire him, giving him a sense of encouragement that stays with him throughout the year.
