Prince Harry will always be linked to the royal family, whether he likes it or not, according to an expert.
The Duke of Sussex recently faced a challenge involving the 2027 Invictus Games after Uganda reportedly with Drew from the event because of confusion over his royal status. The country later decided to join following reassurance from King Charles.
PR expert Mayah Riaz said the situation showed that Harry’s work remains closely connected to the monarchy.
“The fact that Uganda has now rejoined following reassurance from King Charles shows just how closely Harry’s work can still be connected to the wider royal institution, whether he wants it to be or not,” she said.
Riaz added that Harry has spent years developing the Invictus Games as an independent event focused on veterans. However, she said the incident showed that royal politics can still affect the organization.
Royal expert Jennie Bond also claimed Harry was upset by a Palace letter explaining how he and Meghan Markle should be treated following their departure as working royals.
“Harry was clearly annoyed that the letter issued by the Palace, on the instructions of the King, about his and Meghan’s status caused Uganda to pull out of the Invictus Games,” Bond told the Mirror. “In fact, he was probably smoking about it.”
She added that people close to Harry and Meghan reportedly questioned the Palace’s explanation that the letter was sent in response to requests for clarification.
According to Bond, the Sussex camp believes the letter may have created the confusion it was meant to resolve.
