Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has reportedly decided to distance himself from his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, after leaving Royal Lodge.
The former Duke of York and Sarah shared the home for years after their divorce. Sarah, the mother of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, once called them the “happiest divorced couple in the world.”
However, The Times reports that they are no longer speaking. A source told the newspaper that Sarah is not welcome at Marsh Farm, Andrew’s new home on the Sandringham estate.
According to the report, Andrew made the decision to create distance between them.
Andrew has now fully moved out of Royal Lodge and returned the property to the Crown Estate, ending his lease more than 50 years early.
He paid £1.8 million to cover repairs. Under his lease agreement, he was also entitled to £302,000 in compensation for leaving early.
After that compensation, the Crown Estate received about £1.5 million. It is now considering how the property could be used in the future.
