Kate Middleton and Prince William have shared a joint message to mark Mountain Rescue Awareness Day.
Their message came hours after reports claimed Kate was taking extra care this winter because of a weakened immune system. The statement did not address those claims.
Kensington Palace shared the message alongside a photo of Kate, William and their children meeting local mountain rescue teams during the Three Peaks Challenge this summer.
The couple thanked volunteers for giving their time and skills to keep people safe in beautiful but difficult mountain areas.
They said their connection with the organisation had allowed them to see the volunteers’ hard work, skill and kindness first-hand.
Kate and William also said their summer visit gave them a chance to thank rescue teams in person. They praised the teams for protecting walkers and climbers throughout the year.
The message was signed “W and C,” their initials, showing it was a personal message from the couple.
They said they were proud to support volunteers who respond in all weather, often with little warning, to help people in need. They ended by thanking the mountain rescue community for its dedication, courage and service.
