King Charles and Queen Camilla arrive in Bahamas for Caribbean tour

King Charles and Queen Camilla have arrived in the Bahamas as they begin their nine-day Caribbean tour.

The royal couple left the United Kingdom on October 27 for their official visit, which will also take them to Guyana and Antigua and Barbuda. The tour is scheduled to end on November 4.

After King Charles left the UK, the British Royal Family shared an update on social media, confirming that the monarch was travelling to the Bahamas, the first stop of the trip.

Shortly before his arrival, Buckingham Palace shared a photo of the King on Instagram with the message: "Looking forward to joining the people of The Bahamas …"

The palace also gave fans a look at how King Charles spends his time while travelling.

"When travelling, The King likes to spend time reading briefing papers, continuing with his Government red box duties, reading and writing correspondence, and discussing projects with his support team," the palace explained.

King Charles received a warm welcome when he arrived in the Bahamas.

The royal visit comes at a time when several Caribbean countries are calling on Britain to address its role in the transatlantic slave trade.

During the tour, King Charles is also expected to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Antigua and Barbuda.
