Prince Harry reportedly wants to build a closer connection with ordinary people as he and Meghan Markle plan more public appearances in Britain.
Writing in his Naughty But Nice newsletter, royal commentator Rob Shuter quoted unnamed sources who claimed the couple returned to Britain to rebuild their royal standing.
The sources claimed Harry and Meghan believe their titles make them stand out more in Britain than in Hollywood, where they are seen as another celebrity couple.
One source suggested that Harry has a bigger goal: to become known as the “People’s Prince,” following in the footsteps of his mother, Princess Diana, who was known as the “People’s Princess.”
The source contrasted Harry’s reported aim with Prince William’s appearances at glamorous film premieres, saying Harry wants to focus on ordinary people.
Shuter also suggested that the Palace has limited power to prevent the couple from holding events similar to royal engagements, even though they are no longer working royals.
The report followed Harry and Meghan’s visit to Nottingham, where they met members of a community they have supported for years. They first visited the city together in December 2017.
According to the unnamed sources, the couple saw their latest Nottingham visit as a success and plan to hold more events like it.
These claims about their plans and ambitions come from Shuter’s sources, rather than a direct statement from Harry or Meghan.
