Prince Harry’s spokesperson says GQ comment was not aimed at Prince William

Prince Harry’s spokesperson has denied that a remark he made in a recent GQ interview was a criticism of Prince William or other members of the royal family.

During the interview, Harry was asked about his strained relationship with his older brother and their father, King Charles. He described family disagreements as something many people understand from their own lives.

Harry said people often bring up similar experiences when speaking to him. He suggested that some of the public interest in his family comes from people hoping to learn how to resolve their own differences.

But one comment prompted speculation online.

“And some people don’t want it to work out. I want it to work out,” Harry said.

Some social media users interpreted those words as a reference to William or other relatives. His spokesperson later told People that this was not what he meant.

The remark “was absolutely not intended as a swipe at his brother or any other member of his family,” the spokesperson said, explaining that Harry was speaking generally.

Harry also stressed during the interview that reconciliation remains his priority. With everything else happening in the world, he said, “the most important thing is to reconcile.”
