King Charles reportedly wants to rebuild his relationship with Prince Harry, but concerns at the palace could make this difficult.
Writing for i Paper, royal journalist Richard Palmer said Charles has been speaking regularly with Harry. However, they reportedly have not met in person since Harry returned to Britain with his family at the end of August.
According to Palmer, the King hopes to repair their relationship privately and spend more time with his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
However, Palmer said some people at the palace remain suspicious of Harry and Meghan’s motives. They worry that private family moments could later be used in the couple’s commercial projects.
Palmer also pointed to a YouGov poll published on Thursday. He said it offered no evidence that public opinion of Harry and Meghan had improved following their reported return to Britain.
According to his account, the poll suggested the couple had become more unpopular. It was conducted on October 22 and 23 as part of YouGov’s regular surveys about the monarchy.
The report suggests that Charles’s wish to reconnect with his son comes alongside continued palace concerns and negative public opinion.
