The Royal Family reportedly has different views about Prince Harry’s possible return to family life. Some hope they can put their problems behind them, while others remain unsure about his intentions.
Royal expert Duncan Larcombe believes Prince William has good reason to be angry with his younger brother.
Speaking to New Magazine, Larcombe accused Harry and Meghan of using their royal status to earn millions of pounds. He argued that this goes against the limits set by the late Queen Elizabeth.
He pointed to their Nottingham visit as an example. While some people may see them as private citizens doing charity work, he said their royal connections bring them far more media attention than most people receive.
Harry and Meghan’s relationship with the Royal Family changed when they stepped back from their duties as working royals. Their final engagements included the Endeavour Fund Awards and the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey.
The couple lived in Canada before moving to California during the COVID-19 pandemic. They also stayed at Tyler Perry’s home before settling in Santa Barbara.
After a review period, it was confirmed that they would not return as working royals. Harry gave up his honorary military appointments, and the couple lost their royal patronages.
Harry and Meghan later spoke publicly about their experiences in interviews and their Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan. They also signed deals with Netflix and Spotify, although the Spotify partnership eventually ended.
In January 2023, Harry released his memoir, Spare. It included his account of talks about leaving royal duties and an argument in which he alleged William pushed him onto a dog bowl. Harry also said he had enough material for another book.
During this period, the couple welcomed their daughter, Lilibet, in 2021. Meghan had previously written about suffering a miscarriage in an essay for The New York Times.
Meghan joined Harry in the UK for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022 and her funeral later that year. Harry also attended King Charles’s coronation. After Charles became King, Archie and Lilibet became entitled to use the titles Prince and Princess.
The report also describes a later private meeting between Harry and Charles over tea. It suggests Harry and Meghan have since made fewer public criticisms of the family and may be trying to rebuild relationships. However, William reportedly remains unhappy about the situation.
