Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have two very different recollections of the
night they fell in love.
In a recent interview with Jess Cagle,
Ryan claimed the he and his wife first felt "fireworks" when they decided to
meet up for a double date a few years back. The two had been good friends
for about a year after meeting on the set of The Green Lantern and thought
it might be fun to bring their respective dates together for a group
outing.
"It was funny because for about a year after Green Lantern had
come and gone, all that stuff, we were both single," Ryan said. "We went on
a double date. She was on a date with another guy and I was on a date with
another girl. That was the most awkward date for that respective party
because we were just like fireworks."
But in her interview with
Jess Cagle this week, Blake insisted that she did not pick up on the same
vibes her husband was feeling that night.
"Went well for him, there were no fireworks for me. No," she
joked. "We were such good friends for so long and we both got to know each
other as friends. It didn't click for a good year and a half."
However,
Blake went on to say that it even if she was late to the game, she did end
up being the one who initiated their relationship.
"I'm like, 'Oh
hey, wait. Hold on. We could date,'" she said. "That's what I appreciate
about our relationship is that he's my friend first and foremost."
The rest, as they say, is history: The pair were happily
married in 2012, had a daughter in 2014, and have another baby on the
way.
