Prince Harry Faces Setback in UK Security Case Ahead of Planned Return

Prince Harry's upcoming return to the UK in May has hit a roadblock as the High Court delivered a fresh blow to his security arrangements.

In a recent ruling, a judge dismissed Harry's latest attempt to challenge the Home Office's decision to withhold public-funded security for him and his family. This decision comes after Harry initially lost the court battle against the committee in February.

According to the ruling published on Monday, the High Court rejected Harry's appeal to overturn their previous decision in favor of the Home Office. Now, the royal's legal team will seek permission directly from the Court of Appeal to contest the decision.

The security measures for Prince Harry and his family were revoked after his decision to step down as a working royal alongside his wife, Meghan Markle, in 2020. Following their relocation to California, the Sussexes severed ties with royal duties, prompting the RAVEC committee to unanimously withdraw their security funded by UK taxpayers during visits to the country.

High Court judge Peter Lane upheld the committee's decision, citing Harry's diminished contribution to serving the British people after stepping back from royal duties.

This legal setback adds complexity to Prince Harry's planned visit to the UK and underscores the ongoing tensions surrounding his security arrangements following his transition away from royal responsibilities.
