Sussexes’ Independent Branding Faces New Challenges Amid Royal Family’s Unified Tribute
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s latest move has stirred up public interest, as the couple chose to maintain separate branding while the royal family gathered for the solemn Remembrance Sunday Cenotaph Parade.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently reunited after a period of professional separation, aiming to send an important message together. However, PR expert Renae Smith suggests their strategy may have fallen short compared to the cohesive impact of the royal family.
“While their decision to develop individual brands could benefit them in the long term, it has generated significant public speculation in the short term,” Smith explained to Express.co.uk. “This approach may allow each to build distinct identities that resonate more effectively with their specific audiences.”
The comments come as King Charles, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and other senior royals stood united at the Cenotaph Parade to honour the fallen soldiers of World War II, showcasing a strong sense of unity.
Smith pointed out that the Sussex brand has struggled to maintain momentum and a unified identity. “The challenges they face likely stem from their differing interests, which do not easily blend into a single ‘Sussex’ narrative,” she noted. “Moving towards individual brands might be a natural progression, especially if their joint efforts have not met their initial expectations.”
The expert concluded that while Harry and Meghan’s separate pursuits may seem risky now, they could help the couple build more distinct and successful personal brands in the future.
