The cancer-stricken monarch, who has continued his royal duties despite undergoing treatment, found himself in a heated dispute with his brother. In an effort to push Andrew to downsize to Frogmore Cottage, Charles cut off his financial support and security from the Privy Purse. However, Prince Andrew managed to secure sufficient funding from “legitimate sources,” enabling him to maintain his lease on the 30-room Royal Lodge.

“Whoever advised the King to pursue this path and continue down it has serious questions to answer,” a source told The Daily Beast. “Charles loathes incompetence above all else. It wouldn’t be surprising if some staff members quietly disappear after Christmas.”
Another family friend described the Royal Lodge dispute as “a clear reflection of the family’s ongoing dysfunction,” adding, “Normal families don’t have these kinds of public arguments. The King’s aides were foolish to air the family’s dirty laundry in such a way.”
