Duke and Duchess’ Six-Month Plan Reportedly Aimed to Reconcile Royal Duties
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who stepped away from royal duties in 2020 and moved to the United States, allegedly devised a plan to return to the UK as part-time royals, according to author Tom Quinn.
The Duke of Sussex, fresh from a trip to Canada, reportedly expressed a desire for King Charles to adopt a more flexible approach to royal roles after Queen Elizabeth’s passing. Quinn claimed the couple envisioned splitting their time between Britain and America, with six months dedicated to working as royals and the remaining half-year spent in the United States.
Quinn suggested that this arrangement aimed to rejuvenate public interest in the Sussex brand, which he argues has waned since Harry’s departure from royal duties. "The American public found Harry more appealing when he maintained his royal role—that’s what made him unique and interesting," the author stated.
Quinn also hinted at Meghan’s concerns over their diminished appeal, noting that the Duchess resists the notion of her identity being negatively impacted by Harry’s loss of royal ties. The reported plan, however, never materialised, leaving the Sussexes to navigate life outside the royal sphere.
