Prince Harry's Accent Sparks Debate as Experts Note American Influence

Duke of Sussex shows significant speech changes after four years in the U.S.

Prince Harry’s accent has undergone noticeable changes since his move to California, with experts identifying distinctly American influences in his speech.

Anthony Shuster, a communication coach and accent expert, observed that Harry’s pronunciation of words like “little” now sounds more like “liddle,” a hallmark of American speech patterns. “That’s something quite distinctly American,” Shuster explained to The Telegraph, highlighting the softening of the “t” sound to a “d.”

He added, “Reflecting back what’s in front of you is a social skill. Posh youngish men of his generation do talk like that, but Harry’s speech has shifted in noticeable ways.”

Linguistics expert Jennifer Dorman previously remarked on Harry’s adoption of American phrases, noting that he seems to be adjusting his language to better communicate with American audiences and media.

A recent skit featuring Harry and singer Jelly Roll reignited the conversation, sparking social media commentary. “It sounds like Prince Harry is losing his British accent,” one user wrote, while another quipped, “Born and raised in the most British-speaking family, and four years later, he’s got an American accent.”

Experts suggest that such changes are natural, reflecting Harry’s immersion in American culture as he balances his royal heritage with his life in California.
