Camilla's son shares insights into the royal family's cherished daily rituals and King Charles’ close bond with his step-grandchildren.
Tom Parker Bowles, the eldest son of Queen Camilla, has provided a rare glimpse into the daily life of King Charles, revealing a beloved family tradition: afternoon tea. The food critic shared that King Charles holds this 5:00 PM ritual in high regard, describing it as "more than just a cup of tea — it's an entire meal," complete with sandwiches, cakes, scones, biscuits, shrimp, and eggs, a custom inherited from the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Former royal chef Darren McGrady has previously noted the significance of afternoon tea for the Queen, recalling how she made time for the tradition even while travelling, often requiring freshly baked scones regardless of the time zone.
Tom also shared touching anecdotes about his children’s relationship with their grandparents. His children, Lola and Freddy, fondly refer to Camilla and King Charles as 'Gaga' and 'Uppa.' He praised the King as a kind and attentive step-grandfather who enjoys storytelling and reading to the children, even performing different voices for books like Harry Potter.
Camilla has spoken warmly of King Charles' rapport with the grandchildren, highlighting his playful side, crawling on the floor and making funny noises to entertain them. The couple’s combined family includes five grandchildren from each side, with William and Catherine’s children, alongside Harry and Meghan Markle’s kids, completing the group.
