Buckingham Palace Breaks Silence on Prince Harry’s Security Appeal After Emotional Interview

Spokesperson says matter has been ‘repeatedly and meticulously’ examined by courts

In a rare move, Buckingham Palace has issued a direct statement regarding Prince Harry’s legal battle over UK security — just hours after the Duke of Sussex delivered an emotional interview following the Court of Appeal's rejection of his appeal.

Breaking with their usual protocol of remaining silent on what they deem “personal family matters,” a Palace spokesperson said:

“All of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion.”

The unusual public comment comes in the wake of Harry’s heartfelt BBC interview in which he appeared visibly shaken by the ruling and expressed his deep disappointment. The Court of Appeal, led by Sir Geoffrey Vos, concluded on May 2 that while Harry presented “powerful and moving arguments,” his sense of grievance did not amount to a valid legal challenge against RAVEC’s decision to downgrade his police protection.

In the interview, Harry insisted he never asked King Charles to intervene, but rather urged him to “step out of the way and let the experts do their jobs.”

The Palace’s unexpected response underscores the sensitivity and growing public pressure around the issue, particularly after Harry declared that he cannot safely bring Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet to the UK without security — and extended a plea for reconciliation with his family.

While the King has not responded personally, the Palace’s formal tone suggests they view the matter as legally settled — even if, emotionally, it remains far from resolved.
