King Charles May Hand Royal Lodge to Another Royal Couple Amid Andrew’s Resistance

Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex Tipped as Possible Future Residents of Windsor Home

King Charles III is reportedly considering reassigning the Royal Lodge to another royal couple as Prince Andrew continues to resist vacating the sprawling Windsor residence.

The Duke of York, who currently lives in the 30-room estate with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, has been under increasing pressure from the monarch to move out. Despite ongoing discussions, Andrew is said to be holding firm, citing a long-term lease agreement that grants him rights to the property.

While speculation has previously pointed to the Prince and Princess of Wales as potential successors to the Lodge, royal insiders suggest William and Catherine have shown little interest in relocating from Adelaide Cottage, where they live with their three children. Sources say the couple are uncomfortable with the staffing requirements and scale of Royal Lodge, preferring their current, more modest setup.

Royal author Gareth Russell told GB News that Prince Edward and Sophie, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, may be more likely candidates. “The logical choice would be the Prince and Princess of Wales,” he said, “but they have shown little interest in moving home again. It could be the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.”

Meanwhile, King Charles is said to be urging Prince Andrew to move into Frogmore Cottage, the former home of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. But Andrew continues to resist, fuelling speculation that the standoff over Royal Lodge may soon lead to a major royal reshuffle.
