Palace Breaks Silence as Royals Reunite in Denmark After Harry's Emotional Speech

King Charles assigns key role to lesser-seen royals during VE Day tribute abroad

Buckingham Palace has issued a fresh update confirming the overseas engagement of rarely seen royals just days after the Duke of Sussex made headlines with his emotional speech in the UK.

On 7 May, new images were released by the Palace featuring the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester alongside King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark. The royals were seen commemorating a solemn occasion in Copenhagen to mark the anniversary of Denmark's liberation during the Second World War.

A statement posted on the royal family's official Instagram account revealed that the Duke and Duchess attended a special service of thanksgiving at Copenhagen Cathedral, accompanied by members of the Danish Government and other officials.

Later, the British royals joined the Danish Royal Family at Mindelunden (The Memorial Park), where they paid tribute to fallen resistance fighters by laying a wreath at the monument dedicated to those who lost their lives during the war.

This cross-border appearance came shortly after Prince Harry’s return to public view at 'The Knowledge' event hosted by The Diana Award, where he delivered a poignant message to young attendees.

The Palace’s timely update highlighted King Charles’ ongoing commitment to honouring international ties and royal responsibilities through key family members—even those who are rarely in the spotlight.
