Duke of Sussex’s latest comments stir fresh pain for King Charles amid his ongoing health battle
King Charles has reportedly been left deeply upset after Prince Harry’s recent comments reignited painful emotions during a difficult period marked by his ongoing cancer treatment.
In a BBC interview, the Duke of Sussex said he could not envision returning to the UK with Meghan Markle and their children due to unresolved security issues. The remark has been seen as a stark reminder to the monarch that he may never get to spend time with his grandchildren.
While Harry claimed he would “love” to reconcile, he suggested that his father refuses to engage with him over matters related to security.
According to royal commentator Hilary Fordwich, the King views his son’s ongoing public disclosures as a breach of royal values and damaging to the dignity of the monarchy. She added that Harry is fully aware that it would be constitutionally improper for his father to interfere in such matters.
Fordwich also noted that King Charles is said to carry deep regret over his lack of a relationship with the children and feels hurt by their absence. Despite being known for his affectionate nature, the monarch is constrained by legal and constitutional limitations, making the situation all the more painful.
