Prince Harry’s Royal Future in Doubt as Palace Unites Without Him

Duke of Sussex sidelined amid royal solidarity and growing tensions

Prince Harry’s chances of returning to royal life have reportedly plummeted following the royal family’s latest show of unity, signalling a major shift in how the Duke of Sussex is viewed within the Firm.

As the royals marked the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a united front, Harry was notably absent—and, according to insiders, deliberately sidelined. The display came just days after Harry’s emotional BBC interview, in which he criticised the British establishment following his High Court security defeat and expressed frustration over King Charles’ silence.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Express, “Some thought [Harry's interview] might overshadow a week in which VE Day 80 would be celebrated, and it certainly seemed as though Harry, who seemed angry, would not care if it did.” He added, “The Sussexes have never abided by the royal rule of not overshadowing the activities of other royals. They simply don’t care.”

Fitzwilliams emphasised the contrast between Harry’s remarks and the royal family’s public stance: “The royal family symbolised national unity as they did in 1945. Harry’s ill-timed outburst has been totally sidelined.”

Reports now suggest that King Charles’ continued silence—particularly his lack of response to Harry’s calls for reconciliation—is a clear signal that a return is increasingly unlikely. With every passing day, royal sources say, the possibility of Harry resuming a role within the monarchy grows slimmer.
