Harry and Meghan Maintain Royal Titles as Family Tensions Persist
Harry and Meghan Markle have continued to use their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles since stepping down as working royals in 2020. Despite repeated calls from critics for their titles to be revoked, King Charles is believed to have no intention of pursuing such action, and Prince William, the next in line to the throne, is also unlikely to take a different stance.
Speculation has circulated that William might opt for a tougher approach, especially as his relationship with his brother remains strained. However, royal expert Jennie Bond told The Mirror that while there is public appetite for stripping the Sussexes of their titles, William would likely avoid doing so, as it could be viewed as "vindictive" and would require an act of Parliament.
Bond further noted that although William and Harry may remain estranged, William is more likely to simply see his brother as irrelevant to royal matters, rather than take steps to formally remove his titles.
For now, Harry and Meghan retain their Sussex titles, with reconciliation between the brothers appearing unlikely.
