King Charles Drives Change with £170K Electric BMW

Monarch marks new royal era with eco-friendly luxury and rare gift revelations

King Charles is steering the monarchy into a new chapter of modernisation — behind the wheel of a £170,000 electric BMW.

Having long championed sustainability, the monarch has now retired his iconic Aston Martin, which famously ran on surplus English wine and whey, in favour of a sleek, emissions-free ride. The King was recently seen arriving at church on his Sandringham estate in the high-end EV, which offers a 341-mile range on a single charge.

This shift aligns with Charles’s longstanding commitment to environmental causes. He was the first senior royal to go electric, purchasing a Jaguar I-Pace back in 2018 — years ahead of the trend.

In another sign of openness, the Palace has released the royal family’s official gift list for the first time in years. The list spans from 2020 to 2023 and includes extravagant gifts received by King Charles, Queen Camilla, and the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Among the most notable items was a £355,000 Rolls-Royce Cullinan Series II presented to the King by the King of Bahrain. The collection also includes designer cufflinks, rare fragrances, and premium alcohol — offering a rare glimpse into the lavish world of royal diplomacy and state gifting.
