Monarch shares note on yoga’s importance after Princess of Wales cancels appearance
King Charles released a meaningful message on an international occasion, shortly after his daughter-in-law Catherine stepped back from a royal family appearance.
On Friday, Buckingham Palace shared the King's personal statement for the 10th International Day of Yoga, celebrated in central London. The message was delivered by High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami, according to Eastern Eye.
In his note, the King underscored yoga's value for young people in particular, saying the practice encourages “global principles of unity, compassion and wellbeing.”
He also reflected on this year’s theme, Yoga for One Earth, One Health, saying it “reminds us how vitally important it is that the world comes together to secure a happy and healthy future for present and future generations.”
King Charles remarked that yoga continues to gain popularity across the United Kingdom, with millions now benefiting from its impact. He added that yoga not only improves physical and mental health, but also promotes a shared sense of well-being and community when practised collectively.
The monarch’s remarks came just as Catherine withdrew from the opening day of Royal Ascot, prompting renewed public concern about her health following her recent battle with cancer.
