Future King takes firm stance amid deepening rift with Harry
Prince William is said to be adopting a protective approach towards his wife, Catherine, much like his father King Charles has shown towards Queen Camilla, as tensions with Harry continue to mount
The Prince of Wales, estranged from his brother for nearly three years, is reportedly unwilling to reconcile—not because of personal attacks, but due to Catherine being drawn into the ongoing drama.
According to royal commentator Kinsey Schofield, William is deeply hurt by how Harry has treated Catherine, who once shared a close bond with her brother-in-law.
“[William’s] pain doesn’t come from personal insults or headlines. It comes from his instinct to protect the woman he loves,” Schofield told Fox News Digital. “But what cuts the deepest is Harry’s treatment of Catherine.”
She added, “She’s always loved him, always treated him like a little brother. That’s the betrayal William won’t forget… But Harry never seems to think about the consequences.”
Though Catherine was previously reported to be acting as a mediator between the brothers, Schofield said the future Queen fully supports her husband’s position in the royal rift.
“Catherine has been nothing but supportive of her husband – and that’s exactly why Prince William is so deeply hurt,” she said.
Harry revealed long-standing sibling tensions in his 2023 memoir Spare, with anecdotes highlighting the frosty relations between Catherine and Meghan Markle. While William can endure personal attacks, Schofield noted he is more concerned about the online criticism directed at Catherine, particularly as she faces health challenges.
“William can take the punches Harry throws at him – the dog bowl, the breaking of Harry’s necklace – trivial,” Schofield said. “But Harry effectively sent the online mob after William and Catherine… Catherine has had a tough two years between cancer and this ongoing drama.”
It was also reported that Harry’s portrayal of Queen Camilla as an ‘evil stepmother’ contributed to his eviction from Frogmore Cottage. Now, in a similar spirit to his father, William appears determined to shield Catherine from further distress.
