Duke of Sussex struggles with deepening rift as Meghan prioritises future plans
Meghan Markle and Harry appear divided over how to navigate their ongoing estrangement from the royal family, with reports suggesting the couple are separating their professional priorities amid widening tensions.
While Meghan supports her husband emotionally as he grapples with the loss of family connections, particularly with King Charles, the Duchess remains focused on expanding her business empire.
The former actress began the year launching several ventures, including her return to Instagram, a Netflix cooking series, her lifestyle brand As Ever, and a new podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, in partnership with Lemonada. Reports now indicate she plans to extend As Ever into the hospitality sector with hotels and restaurants.
In contrast, Harry remains deeply invested in the prospect of reconciling with his family. An insider told People magazine that Meghan approaches the situation in a pragmatic manner, wishing her husband would shift his focus towards their current life rather than dwell on the past.
Complicating matters, the couple remain sidelined from royal developments due to a lack of trust. Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith noted that, despite the King’s occasional desire to reconnect, trust remains a key obstacle. “The King and William don’t trust Harry and Meghan with any kind of confidential conversation,” she said.
For her part, Meghan reportedly hopes Harry will move forward and concentrate on building their life together.
