Palace stands firm as Sussexes' new video deepens rift and sparks renewed criticism
The Royal Family has taken a decisive stance against the Duke of Sussex and Meghan Markle following their latest public blunder, which further undermined hopes of reconciliation.
Last month, Harry made headlines with an olive-branch offer to King Charles during a BBC interview, though his remarks reportedly stirred new tensions within the Palace.
The situation escalated after the Sussexes marked their daughter’s fourth birthday with a widely shared video. The clip, featuring a heavily pregnant Meghan dancing with Harry in a hospital room prior to Lilibet’s birth, was branded “embarrassing” by royal commentators.
Royal author Robert Jobson highlighted the stark contrast between Harry and his brother. While William advances in his royal role—most recently speaking in Monaco on ocean conservation and visiting Wattisham Airfield in Suffolk—Harry and Meghan’s actions are dismissed as “clickbait.”
Jobson told Hello! magazine: “William takes his responsibilities to the institution, his father, and his family very seriously. He has grown into the role of supporting his father and being a King in waiting.”
In contrast, the Sussexes’ recent moves have reaffirmed the Palace’s position that any meaningful return to royal duties is no longer on the table. “The idea of Harry ever coming back and doing anything constructive for the Royal Family is pretty much over,” Jobson added.
