The Princess Royal shows support for Eugenie's cause while concerns rise over William’s royal duties
Princess Anne is once again proving her dedication to both duty and family, stepping in to support her niece during a time of quiet royal friction.
During a recent visit to Northern General Hospital in Sheffield, the Princess Royal officially opened the Princess Royal Spinal Injuries Centre—a facility offering healing space for spinal injury patients. The tranquil outdoor garden at the centre, created by Horatio’s Garden charity, was inspired by a design featured at the 2023 Chelsea Flower Show.
Anne’s participation held added significance given her niece’s involvement. Princess Eugenie, daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, is a patron of Horatio’s Garden and previously opened a similar sanctuary at Salisbury District Hospital earlier this year. By lending her royal presence to the event, Anne made a visible gesture of support for Andrew’s daughter and the cause she champions.
The move also comes at a time when reports suggest Princess Anne may be privately growing impatient with Prince William. According to The Sunday Times, the Princess Royal has been handling the bulk of Investiture ceremonies at Windsor Castle—despite William living nearby—a situation insiders say is starting to frustrate her.
While Anne remains committed to upholding royal duties, her actions hint at deeper familial dynamics, including continued support for the children of her embattled brother, Prince Andrew.
