Meghan Markle and Harry are rumoured to be preparing a major announcement about their future following a devastating setback: the apparent end of their $100 million partnership with Netflix.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to be at a crossroads, with sources claiming their deal with the streaming giant will not be renewed once it expires later this year. The couple, who have depended heavily on the Netflix contract to fund their lavish lifestyle—including the upkeep of their $29 million Montecito estate and a full-time staff—may now be facing serious financial and marital pressure.
One insider noted: “Their honeymoon phase is over. Without the security of the Netflix money, cracks could begin to show in their relationship.”
While Netflix has reportedly approved a second season of With Love, Meghan, sources say this could be the Sussexes’ final project for the platform. The lifestyle series, which launched in March after delays from the California wildfires, only managed to reach the 383rd spot among Netflix’s most-watched titles, with 5.3 million views—far behind the resurgence of Suits, the legal drama Markle starred in before meeting Harry.
Meanwhile, Harry’s own Netflix project, a polo documentary, performed even worse—ranking 3,436th out of 7,000 titles and attracting just over 500,000 viewers.
A Netflix insider shared: “There was a lot of buzz around them in the beginning, but that excitement has faded. They're no longer must-see content.”
Industry professionals also suggest the pair have struggled to define their creative voice. “They’re not natural content creators,” said one executive. “They’re chasing what they think people want instead of being true to themselves.”
