Prince Harry Faces Setback as King Charles Prioritises Queen’s Death Anniversary

Father and son’s long-awaited reunion may be delayed by sombre royal event

Harry’s hoped-for reunion with King Charles this September may not go ahead as planned. The Duke of Sussex is due to return to London to attend the WellChild Awards, but his visit falls at the same time as a deeply significant royal date.

The anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing will see Charles likely spending time in Scotland to honour his late mother, which could make it difficult to schedule a meeting with Harry.

Royal expert Jennie Bond told the Mirror that while a father-son reunion is long overdue, timing remains an issue. “I have always thought that it is the parent’s role to be the bigger person in any family row,” she said. “You just have to open your arms and say to your child – albeit a grown-up child – ‘Come here, you silly so-and-so, and give me a hug.’”

However, Bond stressed that the anniversary is a solemn priority for the King. “We have all become quite used to Harry coming and going without seeing his family. His visits are generally extremely brief, and the King is usually up in Scotland for the anniversary of his mother’s death. So arranging a meeting may not be straightforward.”

Neither Buckingham Palace nor Harry’s office has confirmed whether the two will meet during the trip. For now, the possibility of reconciliation between father and son remains uncertain.
