Duke of Sussex’s playful side resurfaces as he prepares for UK return
A resurfaced video has delighted royal fans by showing Prince Harry sharing a lighthearted moment with his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, during a Buckingham Palace reception.
The Duke of Sussex, known for his easy charm, was seen joking with the monarch as they welcomed teams at a palace event back in November 2013. The clip, now making the rounds online, has been praised as a reminder of Harry’s close bond with his grandmother.
During the exchange, a military veteran told the Queen: “I took myself and Prince Harry to the North Pole.” The late monarch replied, “Oh did you? That was brave.” Harry then chimed in with a cheeky grin: “I shared a tent with him, Granny — that’s incredibly brave… on my part.” The playful quip sparked laughter from both the Queen and those present.
The reception celebrated the work of Walking With The Wounded, a UK charity supporting veterans with employment, mental health care, and recovery programmes. Harry, who served ten years in the army, had previously acted as patron for the charity’s Everest expedition in 2012.
The resurfaced footage comes as Harry prepares to return to Britain next month. He is set to attend the WellChild Awards in London on September 8, which also marks the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing.
For many, the rediscovered clip serves as a touching reminder of the warmth and humour Harry shared with his grandmother — a bond still cherished by royal watchers today.
