Expert cautions that new Windsor home could distance the future King from the public
Prince William and Catherine are preparing to move with their children into Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park, which they reportedly see as their “forever home.” The eight-bedroom residence, where they are expected to live permanently once William becomes King, is undergoing building work ahead of the family’s move at the end of 2025.
The decision comes after a difficult few years for the Wales family, marked by the death of Queen Elizabeth in 2022 and recent cancer diagnoses for both King Charles and Catherine. Insiders say the couple hopes the move will offer a “fresh start” after their time at Adelaide Cottage. They are also expected to pay market rent for the property.
Not everyone is convinced the move will be without drawbacks. Royal commentator Robert Jobson warned in The Sun that William “could become less connected to the people,” adding, “I think you have got to be careful what you wish for.”
Meanwhile, expert Matt Wilkon suggested the Prince of Wales is determined to carve out a different path than his father or grandmother, preferring to raise his children with more privacy in the countryside.
