Netflix deal scaled back as couple faces uphill battle
Harry and Meghan’s once-hyped business ventures appear to be losing steam, with their Netflix deal reportedly being renewed on far smaller terms than their original $100 million contract.
Reality star and entrepreneur Bethenny Frankel believes the couple’s struggles come down to trying to do too much too quickly. Speaking after being named Us Weekly’s Entrepreneur of the Year, Frankel said Harry and Meghan signed multiple deals at once in hopes of capitalising on their fame but ended up spreading themselves too thin.
“They made all these different deals in a short amount of time, and it’s hard to land all of those things,” she explained. “They wanted to do it in a timely manner because they realised there was a certain window of opportunity.”
Insiders claim the new Netflix contract is structured as “no risk for Netflix,” while still allowing the couple to maintain their reputation after their earlier, much larger agreement.
Despite the difficulties, Frankel praised the strength of Harry and Meghan’s partnership. “I respect that relationship and that loyalty to each other,” she said. “It’s just not that easy. If it were, everyone would be good at it.”
