Duchess of Sussex shares As Ever rosé with tennis star amid rumours
Meghan Markle has put an end to whispers of a falling out with Serena Williams by sending her close friend a thoughtful gift from her lifestyle brand.
The Duchess of Sussex gifted the tennis legend a bottle of As Ever’s Napa Valley Rosé, which Williams happily shared in an unboxing video on Instagram Stories on September 26. She tagged both Meghan and the brand in the post.
Meghan then reposted the clips to her own Stories, adding three pink heart emojis — a subtle but clear show of affection.
The pair’s friendship goes back more than a decade, after they first met at the 2010 Super Bowl. Since then, Meghan has often supported Serena at tournaments, while the champion was a guest at Meghan’s royal wedding to Harry in 2018.
Despite their bond, rumours of a rift have followed the duo in recent years. Fans speculated about tension after Serena didn’t feature on Meghan’s Netflix series and again when Meghan appeared guarded during a podcast discussion about the athlete’s career. Body language expert Jesús Enrique Rosas even suggested her expressions hinted at “condescension.”
Still, Meghan’s latest gesture seems aimed at silencing the speculation — reminding the world that her friendship with Serena remains strong.
