King Charles’ wish to see Harry during his visit to London goes beyond a father–son reunion. His eagerness is also tied to his hopes of reconnecting with Archie and Lilibet.
The Duke of Sussex is expected to attend the WellChild Awards on September 8. His visit coincides with the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing, which King Charles is likely to mark in Balmoral, Scotland. Even with this clash in schedules, reports suggest the King is keen to make time for Harry in London.
According to royal expert Ingrid Seward, the 76-year-old monarch has made it clear he is open to a meeting, provided it can happen without unnecessary drama. She noted that the King might even send gifts or messages for the Sussex children as a way of reaching out.
Speaking with Newsweek, Seward explained:
“Harry desperately needs the stardust of meeting his father. He needs the glow of being the king’s son to shine on him.”
She added that Charles is likely saddened by his lack of contact with his grandchildren, which makes the chance of a reunion all the more meaningful.
Harry will travel alone on this trip, without Meghan Markle or their children. While Charles is not opposed to seeing his son, experts believe any meeting would likely take place with one of the King’s close aides present.
